HOW TO BUY THE RIGHT PIANO

Our award-winning staff will surpass all expectations, helping you select the perfect piano at the perfect price for your family. By acknowledging your concerns and answering your questions, Frank and Camille’s® is committed to providing you with every option available to make owning a piano in your home a reality.

—1—

DECIDE ON A BUDGET

An important first step is to understand what you can afford financially, then one of Frank and Camille’s® Piano Specialists will be able to guide you to the best instrument for your needs and budget.

—2—

DETERMINE PLACEMENT

Determine where you'll place the piano in your home and how much space you have available. Frank and Camille’s® showcases acoustic and digital pianos in all shapes and sizes, but here's some quick tips: (1) a piano with 88 keys is typically 5 feet in width from left to right; (2) a baby grand piano is about 4.5 feet long from front to back; (3) a grand piano can be anywhere from 6 feet to 9 feet long from front to back; (4) vertical pianos and digital pianos are meant to be placed against a wall and are about 2.5 feet from front to back.

—3—

CHOOSE A STYLE OF CABINETRY

Since a piano is a piece of furniture for the home, you'll need to choose a suitable style and finish of the case. Frank and Camille’s® showcases the largest selection of pianos in the tri-state area, and with that selection come a wide array of pianos in dozens of sizes, styles and finishes. From contemporary to traditional to eclectic, you'll find it at Frank and Camille's.

—4—

ACOUSTIC OR DIGITAL?

Acoustic pianos offer the authenticity of tone because of their use of real hammers, stings and hardwood components. However, as technology has advanced pianos now come in "smart" options. Digital pianos offer weighted keys that feel like a real piano, but they don't have hammers and strings. Instead, digital pianos reproduce a piano sound, and other instruments, from digitally-sampled recordings that sound very close to a real piano.

—5—

ASK ABOUT THE WARRANTY

When choosing any piano, ask about the warranty. Every piano sold by Frank and Camille’s® comes with a warranty. It's why we simply can't recommend buying a piano privately, because pianos are living and breathing instruments that must be maintained to perform well.

—6—

CONSIDERING A USED PIANO?

Frank and Camille’s® has a hand-picked collection of dozens of one-of-a-kind pre-owned pianos. When you're looking for an eclectic style or desire a top-of-the-line brand but can't afford to buy new, a pre-owned piano from Frank and Camille's is an excellent choice. Plus, every pre-owned piano purchased comes with a warranty for added peace of mind.

—7—

SHOULD I BUY PRIVATELY?

Is it safe to buy a piano privately from the local pennysaver or on Craiglist or eBay? Even when a piano's cabinet is in good shape, there are many unseen parts (bridges, pin block, action parts, etc.) inside a piano which may be damaged beyond repair or extremely costly to fix. A novice would not be aware of these problematic issues. Frank and Camille’s® recommends you purchase a used piano from a reputable dealer who will certify that all the parts of the piano are in working condition.

—8—

IS A PORTABLE KEYBOARD GOOD ENOUGH TO START?

I want my child to learn to play piano, is a portable keyboard good enough to start with? It is important to choose an instrument with weighted keys (with hammer action), such as an acoustic or digital piano. A portable keyboard offers non-weighted (soft to the touch) keys which often make it harder to learn to play piano. That's why most portable keyboards are sold within the toy departments of big box stores. When you want your child to learn to play music, choose a real instrument.

—9—

CONSIDER RENTING A PIANO

My child is just starting to learn music, I don't want to make an investment in a piano to then learn they don't take an interest. Frank and Camille’s® Piano Rental Program offers quality pianos to those who aren’t quite ready to buy. Renting before buying is the perfect choice to see if your child will enjoy learning to play piano. Frank and Camille’s® Piano Rental Program gives you the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful piano in your home before making a full investment.
